Our Programs
42 Change Makers offers a variety of programs aimed at empowering youth in Kenya. These programs focus on academic excellence, civic leadership, and entrepreneurship, providing participants with the skills and tools necessary to succeed in life. Key programs include academic support and mentorship opportunities, civic leadership and community service, entrepreneurship training and seed capital support initiatives. The programs are designed to be hands-on and interactive, fostering practical learning and personal growth. By addressing the unique needs of Kenyan youth, 42 Change Makers ensures that its programs are both relevant and impactful, equipping the next generation of leaders with the knowledge and confidence to drive change.
Academic Empowerment
Over 60% of youth in rural areas fail to complete secondary education due to financial constraints and lack of educational resources (Kenya National Bureau of Statistics, 2024).
We work to enhance academic performance for at-risk youth through tailored education programs such as implementing educational workshops, field trips, mentorship programs, and educational resources, including books to enhance academic performance.
Civic Leadership Development
Only 22% of youth are actively involved in community leadership or civic activities, reflecting a need for enhanced programs to foster engagement (UNDP, 2023).
Our civic leadership program seeks to foster civic engagement and leadership skills among the youth. We conduct civic leadership training sessions to instill essential skills and qualities in youth and facilitate community engagement projects to nurture youth leadership abilities.
Entrepreneurship Training and Support
The unemployment rate among youth stands at 38%, exacerbated by insufficient skills training and job opportunities (World Bank, 2024).
Together with our partners, we seek to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset, skills and provide resources for youth to start sustainable ventures and create jobs in their communities.
Our activities include offering workshops on business fundamentals, financial literacy, and practical entrepreneurial skills; and providing seed funding, field trips, and mentorship from successful entrepreneurs to guide and inspire youth.
